New Years

Bread Starter

This simple bread starter can be kept in the refrigerator for a week and produces 4 medium or two large loaves of delicious simple to prepare bread. -Borrowed straight from "The Whole Beast" by. Fergus Henderson

Brown Bread

This recipe is borrowed straight from the pages of "The Whole Beast" written by the iconic Chef Fergus Henderson of the restaurant St. John in London.

This recipe makes a very hearty brown bread (or two) that is sure to last two people for nearly one week. Plan ahead and prepare the Bread Starter at least on day in advance.

Chocolate Pudding

Chocolate has a way of calming even the most restless of souls. This rich, luxurious pudding is off set by a light chocolate whipped cream and chocolate shavings. It keeps well for up to 12 hours in the refrigerator and makes a splendid dinner party dessert. Note that unlike the vast majority of pudding recipes, this one does not contain any corn starch.

Chocolate Whipped Cream

I can't help but make whipped cream the old fashioned way... it is just sooo much better. This little recipe calls for a bit of chocolate and a bit of sweetness, and is delicious over pudding, hot chocolate, Baileys or coffee!

Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast

Farro Salad

The earthy, buttery taste of the farro, the sweetness of the pomegranate, and the acid of the dressing cut through the salty, fattiness of duck exquisitely.

Horchata

Horchata is a delicious and refreshing drink. It acts as a fabulous cooling agent when paired with spicy Latin American and Indian cuisine.

Lamb Shanks

This dish of marinated, and slow braised lamb shanks is rich, earthy and sensual. Enjoy with Parsnip & Potato Gratin and a large glass of Pinot Noir. Plan ahead, as the meat should marinade for 3 days in advance.

Parsnip & Potato Gratin

During the deep freeze of winter, when the tomatoes have run out and the spinach is tougher than 6 months prior I dig about my root vegetables for something comforting. This parsnip and potato gratin is slightly more earthy and bitter than a traditional potato gratin, and compliments gamy meats such as venison and lamb splendidly.

Sabut Masoor Masala

Variations of Dal like Masoor Malka are considered to be the best and most popular source of vegetarian protein on the Indian Subcontinent. They are an indispensable element of the cuisine. And now, they are a staple in my ever growing repertoire.

Southwestern Cioppino

My hearty, warming southwestern cioppino recipe makes plenty for two people.

The Pennington Cocktail

Enjoy this cognac cocktail after a long day. It is also a delightful cocktail party offering!
